Credit check and your privacy

When you apply for finance with Bee Finance Limited ("Bee Finance"), we will carry out a credit check on you. We use the credit reporting service of Equifax New Zealand ("Equifax"), a credit reporting agency.

If we carry out a credit check, the following authorisation applies under the Privacy Act 2020. You will be asked to agree to it in the application form.

Credit check by Equifax (credit reporting agency)

I/We understand that Bee Finance is asking me/us for personal information about me/us so as to use Equifax's credit reporting service to credit check me/us. I/We understand that:

  • Equifax is a credit reporting agency whose privacy policy is found at www.equifax.co.nz/privacy (Equifax New Zealand, phone 0800 692 733);
  • Bee Finance will give my/our personal information to Equifax and Equifax will retain that information on their systems and use it to provide their reporting service to Bee Finance and other Equifax customers;
  • Equifax will give Bee Finance information they hold about me/us for the purpose of a credit reference;
  • if I/we default on my/our payment obligations to Bee Finance, information about that default may be given to Equifax, and Equifax may give information about my/our default to other Equifax customers.

Automated processing of your documents

We may use automated tools, including artificial intelligence services provided by third parties, to read, classify and file the documents you or your dealer provide to us, and to help assess your application. Your information is used only for these purposes, is not used to train those services, and remains subject to the Privacy Act 2020.
